The first annual Fourche Creek Waterway Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, from 8 a.m.until noon. Volunteers will put in Fourche Creek at Benny Craig Park and take out at the Interstate Park . Please bring your shallow boat or canoe.
Fourche Creek, just south of Asher Avenue , will soon be named by the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission as an Arkansas Water Trail. Water running off your roof and yard ends up in Fourche Creek. On the west side of Broadmoor, the drainage is to Rock Creek running through Boyle Park . On the east side, the neighborhood drains into Coleman Creek, which runs through the middle of UALR before crossing Asher Avenue and emptying into Fourche Creek. Excess water from Broadmoor Lake travels through a pipe under the Broadmoor Shopping Center , then across the UALR campus into Coleman Creek.

The cleanup plan is to make Fourche Creek pristine by picking up all the trash along the waterway. Keep Little Rock Beautiful is working with Melinda Glasgow, Recycling Coordinator, City of Little Rock, (371-4646) and other civic groups to make this event successful.
