New fence work on dam

Broadmoor board treasurer Karen Walls has led the effort to have new gates placed at the ends of Broadmoor Dam. The old gates were 40 to 50 years old and were worn out.

The new gates will allow service vehicles to go onto the dam from either end. Formerly, vehicles could only enter from the north. Now, the crest of the dam south of the emergency spillway is accessible.

New fencing was added next to the homes adjacent to the ends of the dam, too. The new fences are 6 feet high, preventing people from hopping into the yards to avoid the high gates.

The new fencing also shuts off a gap that allowed trespassers into the park on the north end.

Thanks, Karen, for your leadership.
