Officer Michelle Howard from the LRPD has some safety suggestions:
· Be curious
· Be observant:
· Call 911 about suspicious behavior of any kind. Do not
hesitate to call 911. If and when you call and the operator asks if this
is an emergency tell him/her that yes it is an emergency because you
feel threatened by suspicious behavior in the neighborhood and that you
feel unsafe. Do not be intimidated by the operator.
· If you feel unsafe or will be on vacation and are worried
about your safety at all call 371-4829 which is the non-emergency number
and ask for extra patrol.
· If there are suspicious people/cars in the neighborhood call
911. Be aware of details such as: height, weight, hair, neck, tattoos,
hands, shoes, and race. For vehicles be aware of: size, color, how many
doors, damage to vehicle, wheels, etc.

i) Lock gates
ii) Do not leave any belongings in your car
iii) Lock your car
