Target coming to University Avenue

Strode Properties, who is developing the new shopping center where University Mall used to be, announced today that Target has agreed to put a new store on the site. This is great news for us, since it will mean a full retail store in our part of town.

Fourche Creek cleanup scheduled

The first annual Fourche Creek Waterway Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, from 8 a.m.until noon. Volunteers will put in Fourche Creek at Benny Craig Park and take out at the Interstate Park . Please bring your shallow boat or canoe.

Fourche Creek, just south of Asher Avenue , will soon be named by the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission as an Arkansas Water Trail. Water running off your roof and yard ends up in Fourche Creek. On the west side of Broadmoor, the drainage is to Rock Creek running through Boyle Park . On the east side, the neighborhood drains into Coleman Creek, which runs through the middle of UALR before crossing Asher Avenue and emptying into Fourche Creek. Excess water from Broadmoor Lake travels through a pipe under the Broadmoor Shopping Center , then across the UALR campus into Coleman Creek.

Read more about Fourche Creek at http://www.fourchecreek.org/

The cleanup plan is to make Fourche Creek pristine by picking up all the trash along the waterway. Keep Little Rock Beautiful is working with Melinda Glasgow, Recycling Coordinator, City of Little Rock, (371-4646) and other civic groups to make this event successful.

Most recent Yards of the Week

31 Berkshire was our Yard of the Week last week. This week, the award goes to 18 Barbara Circle.

The new residents at 31 Berkshire hit the ground running, trimming shrubbery and doing a great mowing and edging job. The home is on a large corner lot, so it really shines.

Check out 18 Barbara Circle to see some very nice flowers and a well kept lawn!

Keep up the good work Broadmoor.

Special meeting August 26

You are invited to join your neighbors on Wednesday, August 26th at 7:00 p.m. in the Broadmoor clubhouse to discuss changes to the current clubhouse rental rules.

Some areas we will cover are: setting a capacity for the clubhouse; rules for adult chaperone/minor ratio; requiring a deposit; requiring reservations be made by an adult over 21 who will be attending; and placing one or more prominent rules lists on the premises of the clubhouse.

Recommendations will then be presented at the monthly meeting on September 3rd for consideration.
